Lucy ist das bekannteste Fossil von Australopithecus afarensis.
Es wurde am 24. November 1974 von Donald Johanson in Hadar entdeckt und nach dem Beatles-Song „Lucy in the sky with diamonds“ benannt.
Google widmet diesem Umstand heute ein ‚laufendes‘ Doodle.
